Privacy Policy

We built Cooldown to protect your sanity online. That includes your privacy.

Last updated: May 2026

TL;DR
We collect nothing. Cooldown runs 100% locally in your browser. Your messages, settings, and stats never leave your device. We have no servers, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. Period.

1 What we collect

Nothing about you. Cooldown does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, or message content to any server.

The only data Cooldown uses is stored locally on your device via the Chrome Storage API:

This data stays on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party (except your subscription status, which is checked against ExtensionPay — see section 4).

2 What we don't collect

To be crystal clear, here's what we explicitly do not collect:

3 How Cooldown works technically

When you click "Send" or "Post" on a supported website (Twitter/X, Reddit, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, WhatsApp Web), Cooldown intercepts the click in your browser and displays a countdown modal.

The analysis of your message (detection of trigger words, message length, ALL CAPS, etc.) happens entirely in your browser. The message content is never sent anywhere.

If you decide to send, Cooldown lets the original action proceed. If you cancel, the message stays in your composer — nothing is saved or transmitted.

4 Pro subscriptions (ExtensionPay)

Cooldown Pro is processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for payment processing. When you purchase Pro:

5 Permissions

Cooldown requests minimal Chrome permissions. Here's exactly what each one is for:

6 Your rights

Since we don't collect any of your data, there's nothing to request, modify, or delete on our side. All your data lives in your browser.

To clear all Cooldown data from your device:

7 Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy (for example, if we add a feature that requires data collection), we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated via the extension itself.
